The Vermont Alpine Racing Association was founded in 1971, over 30 years ago, for the stated purpose of promoting the sport of alpine ski racing in the State of Vermont. The organization prduces more U.S. Ski team members than any other state in the nation.
Vara remains committed to the pursuit of excellence in ski racing. VARA membership is required at all levels to participate in our various series, State Championships, and Eastern qualifying ladders. The United States Ski Association membership with a competitor license is required for all racers -- Seniors through J3s. All J4, J5, and J6 racers are required to join VARA and the U.S. Ski Association Youth Ski League.
Membership in VARA is the foundation of alpine ski racing in Vermont. By joining VARA and USSA, you join over 4,000 people who believe that ski racing is fun, challenging and a lifelong sport worthy of commitment.
