MVC Race Series Standings:

Place point standings are maintained to rank J3 and J4 racers in the MidVermont council race series. These rankings serve as the basis for seeding and selection to State and Regional races and camps.

Race Rules & Information

Athletes who compete in the Mid-Vermont Council are subject to a specific set of MVC Rules and 2007 updates in addition to the general VARA rules for their age group.

Last Thursday the MVC met at the Pico Ski Club and made some important decisions for the upcoming season:

1. The Ross Finals will be on Saturday March 11 at Ascutney with the number of invited athletes dependent upon Ascutney's wishes.
2. Ross entries must be made to the host site by Wednesday at 5 pm with the Name, Class, Club, and USSA number in an Excel spreadsheet.
3. All NORDICA Ross Series coaches that serve on the jury or set a course must be USSA professional coaches or officials. All other Ross Series coaches must be on the Club coach's roster which will be sent to the host site prior to the event to receive a comp ticket for the day. All Ross Series coaches must be members of VARA.
4. Ross Series races will be scored by J4's(11-12), J5's (9-10), and J6's (7,8) with awards being given to the top 10 boys and girls in each age bracket. The NORDICA DOBERMAN t-shirts will be given to the fastest (overall) 4 individual team members for the day, as in Beanpot scoring for the Jones Series.
5. All NORDICA Jones Series coaches must be USSA professional coaches to receive a comp ticket, as well as being VARA members. They should be reported to the host site weekly and be able to present their card at registration.
6. Awards will be given to the top 10 J4's and the top 5 J5's for the Jones Series events.
7. The first 2 Jones Series events will be seeded by Club list, reported to the host site by the Thursday before the event. They should be in an Excel spreadsheet format with Name, Club, year of birth, and USSA number. Anything less will be unacceptable.
8. All J3, Jones and Ross athletes must be VARA members to receive place points.
9. At 2 Jones races, the Quechee Slalom and the Middlebury GS the seeding for both runs will be flipping the top 15 by place point order instead of the top 5 as in previous years.
10. NORDICA J3 series races will also be flipping the top 15 at the Middlebury GS and Okemo Slalom for both runs. The first 2 races will be by Club list while the last 2 will be flipping the top 5 as previously done.
11. The first 2 J3 race entries from the individual Club will also be in Excel format with Name, Club, year of birth, and USSA number – anything less will not be accepted.
12. All J3 Club coaches must be USSA professional coaches, as well as be reported to the host site on a weekly basis to receive a comp ticket.
13. With regard to the Jones quota issue… On or about December 15 the MVC Chairman will ask Clubs for their Jones Series rosters, according to last season's quotas. If a Club doesn't fulfill their quota for some reason the remaining spots will be re-allocated.

I'm still waiting on a couple of Ross events to finish the schedule. If there are Development races that want to be on the schedule please report them to me for posting.
