Stratton Mountain School named USSA Club of the Year
Stratton Mountain, Vt -- Stratton Mountain School was named the 2009 recipient of the USSA Club of the Year Award, the highest honor in the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA). The SMS Snowboarding Program was also named as the 2009 Snowboarding Club of the Year.
The USSA Club of the Year, a USSA gold-level award, honors an entire program that demonstrates the best framework for athletes to find success. USSA felt SMS's coaches and dedicated volunteers demonstrated the necessary direction under which athletes are successful. More than 29 Olympians and 72 national team members have come out of the SMS programs, including more than 11 current national team members.
"Winning such a prestigious award gives us great pride as a school, and we are honored to earn such recognition," said SMS Headmaster Christopher Kaltsas. "Our unmatched combination of coaches, staff and community made this award possible."
