A very big Thank You to all participants, sponsors, patrons and hole sponsors of the VARA Golf Classic.

Without your participation the VARA Golf Classic would not produce the needed funds that support our Vermont athletes! In the past we have been able to give out up to 30,000 dollars to our Vermont ski racers in an effort to keep….. ski racing 1st in Vermont and ..... Vermont ski racers 1st in the world. VARA is constantly striving to continue with this kind of support and we are able to accomplish this because of your participation in our events!!

The VARA Golf Classic took place on Wednesday June 3, 2009 at Neshobe Golf Club in Brandon, Vt. There were 19 teams that showed up to showcase their golf skills. The winning teams took home beautiful Vermont granite trophies made by Marc Stuart of Ludlow VT and great prize items that were donated by Swix -Dermatone, World Cup Supply, Mum Nappa, Reliable Racing, Neshobe and VARA!

The Overall Winning team was Stratton Mountain School #1 with Eric Harlow, Dave Edry, Paul Harlow, Bill Hadden and. Stratton Mountain School's second team took second place with DKR Capital coming in 3rd.

The winning Mixed Team was the NE Masters, with Gary Colwell, Nadine Price, Duffy Dodge and Doug Tucker. Second place in the mixed category was the Marker/Volkl team and third place was the Pico Ski Educational Foundation team.

The best putt went to Todd Sisco, of the Kelley Marketing Team, who almost won the $5000 for the putting contest. Todd was just shy of making the putt and taking home lots of cash. The longest drive went to Ray Dennehy of the Atomic Team and Lori Ford, of the Ford/Neal Team. Closest to the Pin winner was James Potter of the DKR Capital Team.

The funds that come in from this event assist in helping VARA athletes through merit scholarships, financial assistance or in season travel. There are many VARA Athletes that will benefit from the proceeds.
