VARA Membership Information

Greetings.

The following is helpful information regarding your VARA membership.

To assist the VARA office with timely membership renewal and fulfillment, please fill out the VARA Membership form and mail it to the VARA Office. All membership forms must be in by Oct 15 to avoid a late fee. New members are EXEMPT from late fee charges.

Early VARA Membership renewals will be fulfilled beginning in September.

Why do I need to join VARA?

1. It is a USSA Eastern Regional Rule that competitors be members in good standing with their state association (VARA) in order to be eligible for the following state association programs: qualifying series for state championships, regional projects (Junior Olympics etc) and Eastern cups, quota based invitational and Eastern region events, state teams, Junior Olympics, scored series and state awards. All Sr. through j5-6 competitors should join VARA.
2. No racers will be scored for qualifying points or overall points in any Vermont series until they become a VARA member.
3. No points will be awarded retroactively.

VARA's goals ... to keep ski racing 1st in Vermont ... and Vermont ski racers 1st in the world.

Please remember to have your VARA card available at races. Showing your card at registration will insure your entry into the race.

Membership advantages:

1. Access to Vermont series races, qualifying events for and including State Championships, Junior Olympics, Eastern Cups, state and USSA regional developmental projects.
2. Eligibility for outstanding achievement awards, scholarships and financial aid from the VARA Foundation. VARA assisted Vermont Ski Races last year by awarding $20,000 in financial assistance either as Honor Scholarships or financial aid.
3. Membership involvement with one of the most prestigious alpine racing associations in the country.
4. Pictorial VARA Calendar with schedule of events, club directory, rules and policy directives, membership card and VARA stickers.
5. Informative web site at www.vara.org
6. Discounted subscription to The Stowe Reporter (www.stowereporter.com), VARA’s Voice for members.
