Important Information from Thelma

CREATING A RACE RESULT FILE FOR TRANSMISSION IN XML FORMAT

  1. Click on "ACTIVITIES"
  2. Select "SEND SKIDATA FILES (XML AND OLD SKIDATA FORMAT)
  3. Select "COPY TO FLOPPY" or "SPECIFY PATH FOR SKIDATA FILE"
    1. COPY TO FLOPPY allows you to copy to floppy disk or cd
    2. SPECIFY PATH allows you to save the file in a place where you can easily find it, i.e. your desktop, briefcase or special transmission folder. DO NOT save in MY DOCUMENTS because Split Second resides in a folder with this name and can cause confusion!
    3. DO NOT include "HARD COPY" for FIS events!
    4. DO include "HARD COPY" for USSA events!
    5. DO NOT use the "EMAIL" function (I am on line, etc.) under ACTIVITIES or the "SEND SKI DATA FILE" in the upper right-hand corner of your main screen. Neither of these options allows you to open the transmission file to verify its accuracy.
    6. Prior to transmission, find the file you are going to transmit and double click (it is a zipped file). DO NOT open with Word or WordPerfect! If this is a FIS event, and you have mistakenly included the hard copy, you can delete it at this point.
    7. Verify the contents of the file: header data, penalty, codex, etc.
    8. Close the file, create your e-mail, attach the file and send it.
  4. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES:
    1. Attach and transmit the XML file found in: FILE > OPEN > SKIDATA FILE
    2. The XML file found in this area is your working copy and DOES NOT contain the required information; neither the FIS nor the USSA scoring systems will accept this file.
    3. Attach and transmit your race file which also contains the XML extension.
