RACE INFORMATION AND PROCEDURE

VARA Membership

Vermont Alpine Racing competitors must be VARA members if they want to qualify for the J3 VT Dual Shootout, J1-2-3-4-5 State Championships, Junior Olympics, Eastern Cups or Eastern regional events for all ages SR's - J5's. Qualifying points will not be scored until the competitor becomes a VARA member and points are not retroactive.

VARA Race Entry procedures

  1. Entries with entry fee are accepted on a first come, first serve basis and should be received by the race organizer 5 days prior to seeding. Late entries and phone entries are subject to the organizer’s penalty charges. All entries MUST include entry fee unless otherwise stated in the USSA Competition Guide.
  2. VARA race organizers will give priority to VARA members' entries that are received on time, over out of state entries. Out of state entries must be made through the VARA Office and will be accepted as field size permits. Out of state entries are to be notified 3 days prior to race date if they will or will not be included in the race field.
  3. Inappropriate fees and late entries are subject to a 50% surcharge, unless otherwise noted in the USSA Competition Guide. Phone & fax entries are not acceptable unless the race organizer elects to do so.
  4. Late entries due to late quota slot availability will not be surcharged.
  5. If in doubt as to one’s attendance, the entry fee should be sent.
  6. Should the racer not be able to attend the upcoming race, s/he should notify the race organizer prior to the seeding of the race, to ensure entry refund. No refunds are due, if the race organizer has not been notified prior to seeding.
  7. Coaches should call to confirm entries prior to race and seeding.

Race Cancellation or Change

  1. Race organizers need to notify the VARA Office of any cancellations. The race organizers and the VARA Office will attempt to notify programs of any changes.
  2. RAs must update the RACE DATA Sheet on the VARA website.
  3. Eastern Hotline - 802-747-4414, after hours between 6 pm and 8 am.
  4. Stowe Reporter (time permitting)
  5. Always call the race organizer for confirmation!
  6. Refunds are at the discretion of the Race Organizer

VARA Head Tax (Race Organizers)

  1. The EASEF Contribution for all USSA and FIS scored events will be $5.00 per start, and will be $3.00 per start for all Junior 3 State Championships and Junior 3 Regional events.
  2. All J3 races, including council races are subject to head tax.
  3. Head Tax is payable to the VARA office with complete race result packets (same as sent to USSA). Packets should be mailed the day after the race AND include a TD report, official race results, start lists and second run orders are to be included in all race packets with the head tax accounting form COMPLETED. All head tax fees are to accompany race packets.
  4. Head tax is due at the J4 level for the State Championships only.

VARA Open Races, VT Cup Series, VARA Spring Series & George Tormey Series

Racers with a point profile of 50 points or less are awarded free entry into the VT Cup, GTS, VARA Open Races and VT Spring Series. All Vermont Racers regardless of point profile are encouraged to race.

Entry Fees For Vermont Races

  1. VT Cup/GTS/VSS/VO: $45
  2. SG: $50
  3. 2 SG: $55

USSA RULES

USSA Rules and sanctions apply in any case that VARA may not have a rule, policy or procedure to address certain circumstances on or off the race or training hill.
