Stratton Mountain School

Stratton Mountain School is a winter sports academy based at Stratton Mountain in the heart of Southern Vermont's Green Mountains. Our community of students, teachers, coaches and administrators share the pursuit of excellence in education and sport. As the first ski academy accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, SMS has a strong tradition of college preparatory academics combined with the most comprehensive and innovative training programs available to alpine and Nordic ski racers and snowboarders.

The school calendar and daily schedules are designed to maximize training time and accommodate competition schedules without sacrificing a well-balanced academic program. Competitive teams include soccer, lacrosse and golf, in addition to skiing and snowboarding. Residential life is enhanced by weekly evening workshops and field trips, ranging from the performing arts to woodworking. Since the school's inception, nearly every SMS graduate has continued to a four-year college or deferred to pursue a career in ski racing or snowboarding. Many students have pursued an education at colleges such as Dartmouth, Brown, Middlebury, Williams, Bates and the University of Vermont. In addition, SMS has had 53 Olympic placements and 33 Olympians as student athletes, while more than 90 athletes have been National Team members.

VERMONT CUP: We request online entries for all USSA events unless the racer is VARA team or top seed(see below). See our online race registration link at www.gosms.org under NEWS AND EVENTS, or the link on this page. We recommend that coaches lists be followed by online payment. We are making an effort to streamline our registration and your support would be greatly appreciated. No Fax or phone entries will be accepted. Race day entries will not be accepted. Please cancel 48 hours in advance for a refund.Please note that priority will be given to those racers who are VARA members until one week prior to the event at which time the race will be open. Please check the race entry lists regularly if you are not a Vara member to be sure that you still have a place in the race.

Comped and low points racers: please email me at [email protected] if you are a VARA team member or you believe that you will be in the top 5 seed.In this situation, I will be happy to enter you into the race so that you will not have to pay a fee. Please include your USSA number, contact email, and club in your email.
